Step 1

  • ​Unpack your Logitech Harmony Home Hub box.

Step 2

  • Flip through the included 'Setup Guide' to get a quick understanding of the basic concepts of the Logitech Harmony Home Hub.

Step 3

  • Plug both the Power Adapter and the IR Mini Blaster into your Logitech Harmony Home Hub.

Step 4

  • Place the Logitech Harmony Home Hub in an unobstructed location next to your entertainment devices.
     
  • Or... If using closed cabinets, place the Hub inside the cabinet and the IR Mini Blaster outside the cabinet to control your TV.

Step 5

  • ​Power up your Logitech Harmony Home Hub by plugging in the Power Adapter into a Power Outlet.
     
  • The Logitech Harmony Home Hub should present a bright red LED at the front of the device.

Step 6

  • Open the 'App Store' on your mobile device.

Step 7

  • ​Search for 'harmony' and download the 'Harmony Control' app.

Step 8

  • ​Open the 'Harmony Control' app.

Step 9

  • ​Tap on 'Set Up New Hub'.

Step 10

  • ​In case you have not turned on your Bluetooth, you will be requested to do so.

Step 11

  • ​Open 'Settings'.

Step 12

  • ​Tap 'Bluetooth'.

Step 13

  • ​Turn on Bluetooth.

Step 14

  • ​Go back to the 'Harmony Control' app.
     
  • The app will indicate that it is ready to initiate the parising process with your Logitech Harmony Home Hub.

Step 15

  • ​Press the Pair / Reset button on your Hub.
     
  • Your hub's LED will blink red when it is in pairing mode.

Step 16

  • ​If the pairing process went well, the Harmony Control app will indicate that it has found your Hub.
     
  • The app will then look for your Wi-Fi connection.

Step 17

  • ​Tap on your personal Wi-Fi connection.

Step 18

  • ​Fill in the password for your Wi-Fi connection and tap on 'Join'.

Step 19

  • ​If the Logitech Harmony Home Hub is able to successfully connect to your Wi-Fi connection it will automatically proceed with connecting to the Harmony Servers in the cloud.
     
  • This process may take a few minutes, please be patient.

Step 20

  • ​If your Logitech Harmony Home Hub was able to properly connect with the Harmony Servers in the cloud, you will be shown a login screen.
     
  • We are assuming you do not yet have an Harmony account, so please proceed by tapping 'Create An Account'.

Step 21

  • ​Fill in your personal details and tap 'Create'.

Step 22

  • ​Tap on 'Accept' with regards to the License Agreement.

Step 23

  • ​Your app will initiate a Harmony software update.
     
  • This process may take a few minutes, please be patient.

Step 24

  • ​Tap on the large > icon at the right top.

  • ​Tap on 'Set Up New'.
     
  • I personally got confused at this step, because I do not have a Harmony Remote, but you still have to tap on 'Set Up New' to proceed even without a Harmony Remote. I believe it a flaw in the setup process, because the app assumes you by default have a Harmony Remote.

Step 26

  • ​Tap on 'Setup'.
     
  • Your Harmony Control app will connect with your Harmony Hub via your Wi-Fi Connection.
     
  • When the above connection is established, your Harmony Hub will connect with the Harmony Servers.
     
  • When that connection is live, your Harmony Hub's firmware will be updated.

Step 27

  • ​When your firmware has been updated, you will be shown the left screen. Again simply tap on 'Set Up New'.
     
  • I personally got confused at this step, because I do not have a Harmony Remote, but you still have to tap on 'Set Up New' to proceed even without a Harmony Remote. I believe it a flaw in the setup process, because the app assumes you by default have a Harmony Remote.

Step 28

  • ​You are now ready to connect your Logitech Harmony Home Hub to one of your electronic devices.
     
  • For the purpose of this guide, we shall connect with a Sharp TV via Infrared as a simple demo to clarify the 'Add Device' process.
     
  • Tap on 'Entertainment Device'.

Step 29

  • ​You will have lookup and add your Device Manufacturer Name and Device Model Number.
     
  • Once done, tap on 'Add'.

Step 30

  • ​Your Harmony Control app will look in the database of the Harmony Servers for your device configurations and if it finds a suitable match, it will properly add your device to your Harmony Control app.
     
  • When your device has been successfully added, tap on the large > icon at the right top.

Step 31

  • ​Your Harmony Controll app will have saved your device and will show you a 'Test Devices' screen.
     
  • Tap on the large > icon at the right top.

Step 32

  • ​You will be shown a 'Power On/Off Test' screen.
     
  • Simply tap the 'ON/OFF' button to test whether you can properly control your device via the Harmony Control app.
     
  • If you are able to control your device via the Harmony Control app, great job!

Step 33

  • ​Proceed by tapping on 'Next'.

Step 34

  • ​The app will guide you through setting up a 'Watch TV Activity'.
     
  • Tap on the large > icon at the right top.

Step 35

  • ​Select the devices you want to include in your Activity.
     
  • Once done, tap on the large > icon at the right top.

Step 36

  • ​The app wil want you to again test your ability to control your device via the Harmony Control app.
     
  • Tap the 'ON/OFF' button to test whether you can properly control your device via the Harmony Control app.
     
  • If you are able to properly control your device, proceed by tapping on the large > icon at the right top.

Step 37

  • ​The app will want you to select an input source, so that it knows what to exactly show on your TV once you turn it on via the Harmony Control app.
     
  • Tap on 'Select An Input'.

Step 38

  • ​Select your preferred input for your device.
     
  • Once done, tap on the large > icon at the right top.

Step 39

  • ​You will now see that your device is configured to use your selected Input Source.
     
  • Tap on the large > icon at the right top.

Step 40

  • ​The app will ask whether you are able to see and hear the content coming from your device.
     
  • Assuming this is the case, tap on 'Yes'.

Step 41

  • ​The app will save your activity and will want to test your activity.
     
  • Tap on 'Test Now'.

Step 42

  • ​The app will turn of your devices directly followed by starting your activity.
     
  • The app will ask whether your activity was turned on correctly.
     
  • Assuming it did, tap on 'Yes'.

Step 43

  • ​You will be shown a 'Favorite Channels' feature, which we will ignore in this guide.
     
  • Tap on 'Skip'.

Step 44

  • ​Tap on the large > icon at the right top.

Step 45

  • ​You have finally completed the setup process...
    (Yes, I know.. I was also shocked by the number of steps required.. =)
     
  • Tap on 'Exit Setup'.

Step 46

  • ​The Harmony Control app will save your settings and go into 'normal use' mode.

Step 47

  • ​Have fun!
     
  • You can now control your device via your Harmony Control app.
     
  • I hope I have been able to clarify the general process of how to add a device to your Harmony Home Hub, which you will basically have to repeat for every device in your personal setup.
